Foundation Friday: A Look Back on 2014

Team LeBron | 12/5/2014

The Foundation Team has had a busy year and as we look back on 2014, we can’t believe all that we have had the opportunity to do this year. We’ve broken bread with our families at the I PROMISE Family Reunion and Hometown Hall meetings. We’ve been on many I PROMISE Experience Outings ranging from basketball games which included a visit to LeBron’s agent and baking at our favorite local bakery to learning how to fish and even writing and illustrating a book with a local children’s author. One of the team’s favorite weekly outings comes in the form of running around and interacting with LeBron’s kids enrolled in Akron After School, and this week, the Foundation made its last Akron After School visit of the year. Joining the team were members of the Canton Charge, a minor league basketball team based in Canton, Ohio.  After getting warmed up with some stretches, led by the team, the kids had the opportunity to practice some drills with the players and a few fun games of knock-out. We even had some intense one-on-one match-ups between our Wheels for Ed kids and Canton Charge pros! Each and every opportunity we have to spend time with the Wheels for Ed and Akron I PROMISE Network students is so important to this team. We look forward to 2015 with anticipation as we think about all that is in store… many more opportunities to share a meal with our families, experience new things with our students, and witness an amazing community coming together in support of the Wheels for Ed and Akron I PROMISE Network all-stars.
