“I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up.” – LeBron James. “I’m Coming Home.” Sports Illustrated July 2014
LeBron’s Wheels for Education and Akron I PROMISE Network kids experienced another reason why there’s no better place to grow up than Northeast Ohio during a recent exclusive experience at the historic Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron. With the doors open only to them and their families for their own private “I PROMISE Day,” LeBron’s kids had free reign to explore and experience one of the most famous landmarks in the country.
With learning opportunities at every turn, students participated in private tours, spent time in the beautifully manicured gardens and butterfly enclave, played on the sprawling lawns, and were treated to a fun family meal.
The day, which was free to our I PROMISE families, was put on by Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens as a kick off to our summer partnership. This year, all of LeBron’s kids received a Stan Hywet I PROMISE Pass, granting them free admission to the grounds all summer long so they can continue to learn and explore. The pass was generously provided in partnership with Akron Public Schools.
