After a 107 — 80 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in their pre-season opener, the Cavaliers set sail to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to take on the Miami Heat as part of the NBA’s Global Game Series. The Cavs’ starting five, led by LeBron, Kevin Love, and Anderson Varejao (Kyrie resting the night) took the team out front to a 19 point lead through 3 quarters. LeBron would play a few minutes into the 3rd quarter but end his night there with 7 points and 8 assists and a funny blooper as he set a pick against Matthew Dellavedova for Norris Cole forgetting they are no longer teammates… he would laugh about it later in the game. The game would take an exciting turn in the 4th quarter as the Heat sparked a run and cut down the Cavaliers lead to tie the game and force overtime. Veteran like leadership by Tristan Thompson, who continues to learn from LeBron, led the team to a 122 — 119 overtime win to give the Cavaliers their 1st pre-season win over an NBA opponent and take their record to 2-0.

The Cavaliers will return back to Quicken Loans Arena for their 3rd pre-season match-up against the Milwaukee Bucks (1-2) on Tuesday, October 14th at 7:00 PM ET.
