Growing in size and scope each year, CES has become the go-to destination for technology’s leading minds, innovative influencers, and pioneering thinkers. In order to plug the power of sports into its programming, last year the event added its Sports Business Innovation track that hosted panel discussions, brand showcases, and a live broadcast on the show floor. With the undeniable synergies and resounding success, the SBI is back again this year tackling even bigger and broader topics across the sports, tech and entertainment industries.
Reprising his role as one of the inaugural SBI moderators, SpringHill Entertainment and UNINTERRUPTED CEO Maverick Carter once again sat in the driver seat for another important and timely panel discussion. Centered on the impact of diversity in tech and sports, Carter led a panel filled with high-level female executives from across professional sports including the NFL’s Senior VP of Sponsorship & Partnership Management, Renie Anderson, Renee Tirado, MLB’s Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, and Sophie Goldschmidt, the World Surf League’s CEO. In a wide-ranging conversation exploring the trends of diversity in sports, the importance of teams and leagues aggressively pursuing a diverse workforce, and how companies, teams, and leagues are addressing the challenges of maintaining, promoting, and fostering diversity.
Tirado summed up the panel’s theme best when she said, "This is about how we grow our business and diversity has to be part of that conversation, because the world is changing and we need to be best in class.”
As a minority CEO of several budding companies, Carter was uniquely positioned to champion and drive this honest, refreshing discussion. To catch the entire panel conversation stream, click here.
